This book is an outstanding read. The book is well written and focuses on the development of coastal mapping techniques to track and remediate oil spills. It also chronicles the author's life including thoughtful lessons learned, hobbies, experiences (some near death), and the people he met along the way that had the greatest influence on his thinking, growth, development and personal fulfillment.
I've known the author since 1964 and learned much I didn't know about him from reading this book. It is both a memoir, his scientific thoughts, an example of fundamentally-sound applied science, and delves into policy.
I strongly recommend it and give at Five Star rating.
